Meet Lindsey

I’m Lindsey, a San Diego girl through and through. I was born and raised here, and feel ever so lucky to still call it “home.”

After high school, I went to Northeastern University in Boston where I learned what a real winter felt like (it’s f*cking cold bro) and after 5 snowy and humid years, earned my BA in journalism.

During my time at Northeastern, I had an opportunity to do an international internship in Seville, Spain for 4 months. And that’s when I got bit with the travel bug.

I traveled a lot with my family growing up, throughout the US, England and Mexico, but this was the first time I did it on my own, which really changes how you travel and what you get to experience.

The summer after my internship in Spain, I spent 2 months learning documentary filmmaking in London (during the 2012 Olympics no less!) and then spent a few weeks traveling through the countryside and up to Edinburgh.

Sidenote: I had the BEST vegetarian meal I’ve ever had in my life in Edinburgh.

Anyways, *squirrel!*

During my last semester of college I was hit with the fact that I didn’t actually know what I wanted to do for work, a career and, well, my life. I had an incredible college experience and education, but knew the world of mainstream journalism wasn’t the path for me.

Lindsey O'ConnorI did however know that I craved a lifestyle that included location independence, time freedom and “being my own boss,” so I could travel and work from wherever…whenever. Basically, the ability to do work that I love, on my own terms.

But I had no idea what that would really look like and how I would make it happen…

After college, I lived in The Bay Area, working in hospitality in Napa Valley and then moving to San Francisco where I worked at a wonderful holistic health clinic. Even though I enjoyed my time in Northern California, I realized it just wasn’t the right place for me.

Upon returning to San Diego in 2016, I had no “real” job, but started to freelance to earn a little money while I figured everything out (that’s a mild way of saying, “while I figured out WTF I was going to do with my life.”)

The more I freelanced, the more I realized that I had an opportunity to make this into a full-time job and, thus, make my ideal lifestyle a reality.

Over the past year and a half, I’ve hustled my booty and have built my own copywriting, editing and video branding business. Although it’s filled with plenty of ups and downs, my business has allowed me the time and location freedom to travel more and actively create the life I want.

I have a passion for travel and I absolutely love sharing those adventures through my blog and on my video series, Travels with Lindsey.

I am also a self-empowerment and personal development junkie, which led me to create another video series called, Wine Talk Wednesday and my podcast, The Art of Alignment.

I hope you’ll stick around, join me elsewhere in cypberspace: Facebook, Instagram and YouTube!)
